5/13/12 Mother's Day Ride to Prison Camp

Postby Tawmass » Mon May 14, 2012 11:38 am

After Saturday's thrash ride over in Hood River on Saturday, I got up early Sunday, Mother's Day, with Donna and asked her what she wanted to do for the day - just name it. She wanted to go for a ride, so I was happy to oblige. She was minus a helmet, since her road hat was sent back to the factory for trim replacement. Donna had been looking closely at a virtually new Shoei Hornet Helmet on Craig's List, so she headed over to look at it. Of course she snagged it, so had a new dualsport helmet to wear too for the day! Our bud Mike Moore had a new 530 KTM that he still needed to get break-in miles on, so he went with us. Donna was still breaking in her KLX250 also.

We stopped by a friend's house to drop off his year-end OMRA trophy from last year, then headed over to Gaston for a tasty lunch. Then we headed west out of Hagg Lake trying to make our way to Brown's Camp. It was wide-open road and no issues, other than getting by the gate to get into Tillamook Forest. Once there, we came out above Prison Camp area. Mike's KTM went on reserve shortly after, so we tarmac'd it down to the Shell Station, where Mike ran out of fuel just a mile away. A tip to the left side to spash more fuel to the other side of the tank got him the rest of the way.

Overall a great 90-mile day of riding and being out in nature!

You don't stop riding because you grow old, you grow old because you stop riding.
