black dawg trail lovers demise

Postby Bonnie Meadowes » Wed Jan 12, 2005 12:26 am

Today my dog was buried along the trail she loved so much
often she would run 4 mile circles around us
as we walked a mile
she got leg cancer last july 2004
and learned to walk on three legs
she loved to go on runs with my motorcycle and me
when she was young i used to put a blinking flashing light psycodelic collar on her neck

with eyes on my fender, and a tounge wagging afront my tire...
fire up my Honda XR 200 dirt bike (legal off cource) "orange dawg" thing
off we went across the universe...

and run her over to my girlfriends house (now Mrs. bin Rydin) and her dog Zeke's place
which was 1.5 miles away
we took the back way after dark
the collar flashing away, and my headlight beam (custom molded for the dark)

even a few weeks ago she got "nuts"
when she heard me sneek out to the garage
somehow she knew i was up to "sumptin"
and yes she heard me flip open the door latch
and then that sound of a bikes kickstand being pushed up (kluunkneke)
she was livid at the door ~ to be let out NOW...
and I did (i am a woose)
she poised herself (as always)
her frothing mouth excited barking, snarling
one eye on the front tire of the bike
the other eye on the kickstart lever (skitZoid pup that she were)
she was impatient as I kicked the bike twice before it started
she wanted to RUN NOW
her barking at the tire would make it happen sooner
i am sure
she has always been a dog to break the rules
even today, unable to move even a foot, i gave her the Vet prescribed last rites
75 milligrams of dog Valium to put her to sleep
so I could cart her up the trail and put a bullet in her head
but NO, that was not to be
i almost fell asleep, and she did not...
the Vet was amazed
she has lived three times longer than he thought
and shes wide awake after recieving a dose he says is 100% knockout (pre op)
but obviously hemoraging from orfices
i never knew existed (blood guts and ? ouseing from?)
has not gotten up since December 31st AM
I have a very weird dog
I have a very weird life
I are very weird
but not as weird as the world is.... today

my dog came to me delivered in a box, cage
she was so afraid (she was beaten as a puppy by a female human)
that it took me three days to coach her to sniff my hand
i had to pretend i was sleeping with my hand by the
entrance to the cage ...
it has taken 10 years for my dog to trust people
in the last 6 months she has overcome jelosey (sp)
if only humans learned so fast ...
the world would become
a better place to ride and live
Image
so now she hurts no more, chaseing rabbits ~~~
chaseing motorcycles , and me
waiting for bin Rydin to get ready to RUN...

Sweet dreams Black Dawg Sister
may you always be
biteing my
rear tire
laughing
chaseing me
along the trail
i will always miss you
sweet dawg, weird oh that you are/were...

Hey Lee (Bin Rydin),
Very sorry to hear of the loss of your biscuit burner. That was a great write up and thanks for posting.

You don't stop riding because you grow old, you grow old because you stop riding.
