Going to the RatDog - Shortcut to Trask Park?

Postby dualsport650 » Tue Sep 14, 2004 7:56 pm

Hi DualSporters...

My bro and I are going to the RatDog this weekend. :D

Does anyone know if there's a shortcut over the ridge to Trask Park from Highway 6 so we don't have to drive out by Tillamook and then double-back???

Yo Matt,
Yes there is, it's called Kansas Creek Cutoff. Take the FIRST Kansas Creek Road left turn off Hwy 6 (JUST after the new ODF roadside forest info center. Sorry, don't know the mile marker, but my Topo program said it's 6.28 miles after Jordan Cr. exit). It's all gravel road over the top. Here's the info from the rollchart:

Once you turn onto (the FIRST Kansas Cr. Rd. entrance [there are two], zero your odo) At 0.83 mile, you'll come up to a big 3-way intersection and you want to turn hard left.

1.24 continue straight
2.96 continue straight
3.18 turn right down Trask Cutoff Road
...stay on MAIN road until
5.81 turn left on Trask R. Rd.
7.59 turn left into Trask Co. Park.

Also have a map for you by clicking the following link:

There ya go. Although bumpier, it is shorter this way to get to the Park. See ya there!

Mud don't hurt. :D

As long as I'm on my motorcycle riding the Rat Dog... I'm in my own personal bliss.

Rain and mud only make it more challenging. Plus, we'll probably only have a shower or two on Saturday, so the riding should be killer. I know the route will be awesome!

See everyone there...

Ride on,
